Performance Audit Lead

The Position

Performance Audit Leads are responsible for conducting performance audits in a team environment, and uphold professional excellence. This includes using established audit methodologies to develop audit plans, collect and analyze data, write audit reports, and present audit results. Performance audits are conducted on a wide range of industries and government sectors such as education, health, insurance, finance, environment, and infrastructure.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical and research skills
  • Knowledge of government and the public sector, preferably in Saskatchewan
  • Several years of relevant work experience, preferably in audit, policy, program evaluation, or management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Above average organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Robust interpersonal and coaching skills; experience in fostering positive relationships, mentoring, and working with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional excellence, leading-edge practice, professional development, and career growth
  • Commitment to making a difference in the quality, and accountability, of the public sector
  • Master’s degree from a recognized university is an asset

Audit Manager

The Position

Audit Managers are responsible for conducting external audits in a team environment that include using established audit methodologies to develop audit plans, collect and analyze data, oversee audit procedure completion, write audit reports, and present audit results. Managers uphold professional excellence.

We audit more than 230 agencies of the provincial Government, including ministries, Crown corporations, post-secondary institutions, the health authority, and pension and benefit plans. Audits are conducted in a range of industries and government sectors such as education, health, insurance, finance, environment, and infrastructure.

If you have your Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with three or more years of external audit experience consider this opportunity.

Candidate Requirements:

  • CPA designation and 3+ years professional experience
  • In depth knowledge of Canadian accounting and assurance standards
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical and research skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills; experience in fostering positive relationships and working with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables

The Position

With our team and the guidance of our CPA mentors, you will gain practical work experience approved by CPA Saskatchewan to supplement achievement of your CPA designation, if interested, and launch your professional career. We audit more than 230 agencies of the provincial Government, including ministries, Crown corporations, post-secondary institutions, the health authority, funds, and benefit plans.

Within your first year in our Office, you will have the opportunity to plan and to complete small audits in a team environment. In addition, our auditors work on complex sections of larger audits. Audits are conducted on a wide range of industries and government sectors such as education, health, insurance, social services, finance, environment, and infrastructure. Your work experience will be diverse and increase in complexity as you proceed through your professional accounting program.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom/BComm) or accounting-related degree from a recognized university, or currently be in your final school year with anticipated 2023 or early 2024 graduation
  • Qualitative analysis and research skills—quantitative analysis skills an asset
  • Some knowledge of government and the public service
  • Effective written/verbal communications skills, ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • In pursuit of a CPA designation
