REGINA, Sask., September 8, 2015 – The Office of the Provincial Auditor is pleased to announce the promotions of Ms. Regan Sommerfeld and Ms. Carolyn O’Quinn to Deputy Provincial Auditors. Ms. Sommerfeld and Ms. O’Quinn begin their new roles on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.
Ms. Sommerfeld has more than 15 years of experience leading public sector financial and performance audits primarily within the healthcare sector. She has specialized knowledge in public sector not-for-profit accounting standards. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan. She has been and is active within the legislative audit community serving on advisory groups of the Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors (CCOLA) and CCAF-FCVI, and working on secondment with the Auditor General of Bermuda. She has also served on several professional organizations.
Ms. O’Quinn has almost 20 years of experience leading public sector financial and performance audits within various sectors (e.g., finance, gaming, pension and benefit plans). She is a Chartered Professional Accountant with significant expertise in legislative auditing including specialized knowledge in public sector accounting standards and auditing gaming organizations. She has played a key role in developing and maintaining the Office’s professional practices and assurance methodology, and in furthering the Canadian legislative audit community’s quality assurance processes through her involvement on CCOLA. She is active within the accounting profession serving on various professional committees throughout her career such as the CPA Saskatchewan– Professional Conduct Committee.
“Ms. Sommerfeld and Ms. O’Quinn both make strong contributions to the Saskatchewan public sector through their solid audit work and leadership,” says Provincial Auditor Judy Ferguson. “I welcome them to the Office’s senior management team, and look forward to them serving legislators and the public in their new roles.”
