Ms. Tara Clemett appointed to the position of Acting Provincial Auditor effective July 1, 2021 May 13, 2021

On May 12, 2021, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts unanimously adopted a motion to appoint Ms Tara Clemett as Acting Provincial Auditor for the Province of Saskatchewan effective July 1, 2021. Ms Judy Ferguson, Provincial Auditor resigns effective June 30, 2021.

The Standing Committee made the appointment in accordance with Section 5 of The Provincial Auditor Act.  Ms Clemett will be Acting Provincial Auditor until a Provincial Auditor is appointed.

Ms Clemett, CPA, CA, CISA, has over 20 years of experience in financial, performance and IT auditing. She currently is a Deputy Provincial Auditor who leads the Health Division. The Health Division includes several large ministries (like Health, Social Services, and SaskBuilds and Procurement), health care organizations (like the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, and eHealth), and some crown corporations like SaskEnergy.

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts expects to commence the recruitment process for a new Provincial Auditor shortly.

The Office of the Provincial Auditor is independent from executive government and reports to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The Office serves the Members of the Legislative Assembly and the people of Saskatchewan by providing independent assurance and advice on the management, governance, and effective use of public resources.
